For the first time in a century, Seattle voters will choose their City Council members by district. In District 1, which encompasses West Seattle and South Park, nine candidates are running.

We asked them to meet us somewhere in the district that signifies why they’re running.

They took us to the South Park Community Center, the South Park Bridge, Alki and the former Linda Manor Apartments, among other places. They talk about a range of issues: overarching goals like protecting infrastructure and greenways and specific tasks like extending the hours of the West Seattle Senior Center.
