Kim Malcolm talks with GeekWire's Monica Nickelsburg about federal approval for a proposed merger between Sprint and Bellevue-based T-Mobile.

On Friday, the Department of Justice approved T-Mobile's takeover of Sprint. The deal is valued at $26.5 billion.

Attorneys general from 13 states and the District of Columbia have filed a lawsuit to block the deal, saying it would be bad for consumers. Washington state is not one of them. If the deal becomes final, T-Mobile would become the third largest wireless carrier in the country.
