For the first time in a century, Seattle voters will choose their City Council members by district.

In District 2, which includes the International District south to Rainier Beach, there are three candidates.

We asked them to meet us somewhere in their district that signified why they’re running.

Current Councilmember Bruce Harrell chose the Cleveland High School gym – student success is a priority for him. Josh Farris invited us to his North Beacon Hill apartment because he is being evicted. And Tammy Morales asked us to join her at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Othello, which she says symbolizes city growth.

Primary ballots drop on Friday, July 10 and are due by Tuesday Aug. 4. Two candidates from each district will go on to the general election in November.
