Seattle's Hard Rock Cafe opened in 2010. In October 2023, the restaurant announced its plans to close on Dec. 1, 2023.

The Hard Rock Cafe plans a considerable expansion over the coming five years, with 50 more locations. Seattle will not be part of this effort, however, as the company plans to close its location near Pike Place Market before next year.

Still, could the Hard Rock chain return to the Emerald City sometime in the future?

According to a statement from the company, they're "open" to the idea, but only "if the right space can be identified." What exactly constitutes the "right space," or what is wrong with the current site, is not exactly known.

Officials with the company have said very little about the closing of the Seattle location. Hard Rock International provided KUOW the following statement:

Since the opening of Hard Rock Cafe Seattle in 2010, Hard Rock International has enjoyed serving the Seattle community and playing a role in the city’s celebrated dining culture. On December 1st, 2023 this location will permanently close. We are currently expanding operations in 50 locations within the next five years and are open to having another location within the Seattle market, if the right space can be identified.

According to Washington's Employment Security Department, a total of 66 workers will be affected by the closure of the Seattle Hard Rock Cafe.

As KING 5 previously reported, Hard Rock Cafe also closed its Denver and Memphis locations in 2023.

The cafe's exit from Seattle comes as the city endeavors to revitalize its downtown. Stores like Nike and Amazon Go have left the neighborhood.
