Pure, cheap, and abundant: Why meth use is spiking in Washington
Kim Malcolm talks with University of Washington researcher Caleb Banta-Green about why methamphetamine use is on the rise in Washington state.
According to a recent survey, there was a 17 percent increase in meth use from 2015 to 2017.
In 2016, 364 people died from meth overdoses in Washington. Since 2011, overdose deaths have increased 137 percent statewide. Banta-Green is a researcher with the UW's Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute.
