Can Amazon's Spheres become a Seattle icon?
If you've driven through South Lake Union in the last seven years, you have probably seen the structures emerge. Three round orbs made of steel and glass were filled with 40,000 plants from nearly 30 different countries to create an urban rainforest.
Now the Amazon Sphere's have opened and the public got their first look inside. Associate editor for The Stranger, Charles Mudede got to tour the Spheres and said it was like standing in the "core of a flower."
But are the Sphere's icon worthy? Ann Gray, Los Angeles based architect and publisher of Form magazine was skeptical. Both guests joined Bill Radke to discuss how buildings become icons.
