New movie releases are chock full of superheroes and their universes. But comic books' portrayal of superheroes has been shaping our society for much longer than the Black Panther and Wonder Woman blockbusters this year.

In this episode, Cienne Bronson and Zack Gates delve into the history of Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Black Panther. Bronson and Gates also explore how these characters challenged tradition within the superhero universe — and outside of it.
