Today is the longest day of the year: the summer solstice. And although it won't be truly summer in Seattle for a few weeks, it's never too early to get started on your list of lazy day jams.

We spoke to music writer Charles R. Cross, checked in with our producers, and heard from many of you with your favorites. (Host Ross Reynolds had an extended dance break to Katy Perry.) One point of consensus? Some of the best summer songs are all about the open road.

For those of us from states with poor public transit, cars represented freedom. For pilot and hydroplane racer Mira Slovak, that freedom was found in the skies. Ross spoke to David Williams about his new autobiography of Slovak.

It's called "Race to Freedom," and chronicles an extraordinary life of resistance to the Nazis, hijacking a commercial plane to defect across the Iron Curtain, and serving as Bill Boeing's personal pilot among many other adventures.

American immigration policy is spinning like a roulette wheel, Russian pun unintended.

After a controversial family separation policy was implemented last month, the president reversed himself and signed an executive order meant to stop the separation of parents from children as they cross the border. This will result in family detention instead. Governer Jay Inslee called in to tell us how the policy is playing out in Washington state.
