Individual segments are available in our podcast stream or at www.kuow.org/record.

Mayor Jenny Durkan 5.14

Every Thursday we speak with Mayor Jenny Durkan and take your calls. This week, new ground: masks, and who (if anyone) should enforce them.

Mask fashion with R. Eric Thomas

What’s your mask fashion style? A ratty bandana? Pink snakeskin? French lace couture? That last one is unlikely in Seattle, but the masks we wear can say a lot about our anxieties, identities, and fashion sense. So says R. Eric Thomas, senior staff writer at Elle.com and author of the memoir Here For It.

The great potato surfeit

There are too many potatoes, which is a dilemma that needs to be solved fast. The Washington State Potato Commission is giving away 200,000 pounds of them at the Tacoma Dome, but it’s only a drop in the bucket of our spud problem.
