If you're looking for tips on how to experience art in the Seattle area, you're in the right place. In this weekly post, KUOW arts reporter Mike Davis has suggestions for what to do around Seattle over the weekend so you can have your own adventures in arts and culture.

Community Events

The Bite of Seattle is back! The local food festival, which was an annual summer event since 1982, returns to the Seattle Center this weekend after a Covid-induced hiatus. The event is now hosted by CHEQ, a local tech-company that created an app used for ordering food. All of the Bite’s vendors are in this app, and you could actually order food right now and pick it up at the event without waiting in line.

This year's Bite has also added a beer and cider tasting garden, a wine garden with a celebrity chef making an appearance, and concerts at the mural that will be headlined by a Sunday night performance by Sir Mix-A-Lot.

Music Festivals

The Capitol Hill Block Party is happening this weekend in Capitol Hill. If you missed out on Taylor Swift tickets, no need to worry. There is still a place where you can dance to live music, and this event will have a ton of acts to choose from.

This summer block party is always energetic, features some great eats from food trucks and local restaurants, and this year I’m encouraging people to catch Friday’s performance by Taylar Elizza Beth.

Sports

The Seattle Storm have a home game against the Chicago Sky Saturday at Climate Pledge arena. If you are looking for an air-conditioned place to spend some time this weekend, this is a great option! Fans should be excited to see WNBA star Jewell Lloyd, who recently won MVP at the WNBA All Star Game, in action on her home court.

A bonus to this weekend's home game is that it takes place right next to the Bite of Seattle! So while you are there for the game, you can grab some great food, and even catch a concert at the mural. The Seattle Center will be the place to be this weekend.
