How Can Seattle Get Affordable Broadband Internet?
Ross Reynolds interviews Christopher Mitchell about what steps Seattle might take to provide affordable broadband internet for all. Mitchell is the director of the Community Broadband Networks Initiative for the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.
One way to achieve affordable broadband is a city run municipal broadband network. But a feasibility study released last week concluded that option would be too costly and difficult to sustain against business competitors like Comcast and Century Link.
Mitchell suggests incremental steps to get to widely accessible, affordable high speed internet.
