Health Care Sign-up Deadline Looms As Payment Deadline Extended
Marcie Sillman sits down with KUOW reporter Ruby de Luna to talk about the Monday health exchange deadline for coverage beginning on Jan. 1.
If you’re still considering signing up for a health plan through the state exchange, you don’t have much time. If you want your coverage to begin on Jan. 1, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23.
Even though the state has extended the payment deadline to Jan. 15 for the first premium, Washington Health Exchange advises applicants to take the following steps, according to a statement released on Friday:
1) Customers will be required to select a health plan and submit their payment through Washington Healthplanfinder. At that time, customer accounts will show that coverage is effective Feb. 1, 2014.
2) Customers must notify Healthplanfinder if they are interested in coverage for Jan. 1, 2014. They will receive a detailed communication instructing them how to confirm their interest via phone or email for coverage effective Jan. 1.
