The 7:55 a.m. ferry from Vashon to Fauntleroy in West Seattle had a hard landing near the terminal this morning. The boat hit an offshore pillar, which crumpled the left end of the ferry.

Current reports say there were no injuries, and an investigation by the Coast Guard is underway to ascertain whether the collision was due to mechanical or human error. Ferry service to Southworth and Point Deception has been increased to help shuttle passengers to and from Vashon Island. There are no current reports of pollution damaging the area.
