Ask KUOW: How do I find online, what I heard on the air?

Listeners sometimes have questions after a broadcast. KUOW's Ross Reynolds is here to answer them.

DAVID ASKS When I hear a good story on 94.9 FM, I want to find out who, what, when and where, but I cant find the story online. It seems easier to find what's coming up than what just aired. Am I wrong?

David, thanks for your question. You’re right. It is difficult to track down stories online. There are a couple of ways to do that.

KUOW has a contact form where you can ask your question and our research staff get the answer and get back to you. It's important to let them know approximately when you heard the story.

What you hear from KUOW comes from many different sources -- KUOW local staff, NPR, BBC, CBC. So the time the segment aired helps us narrow it down.

If you know the source, you also can go directly to it. For example, if it was on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, or another NPR program, go to NPR.org and click on the "Shows and Podcasts" link. That will take you to the appropriate program where you'll find the segments with audio and a description.

I wish we had an automatic data base that consolidated all the information on podcasts and programs, but that doesn't exist yet. If you get stuck just use the contact form and our staff will get the information.
