On Monday, a group of Amazon workers at the company’s Seattle headquarters announced they would be walking off the job.

In messages and emails sent to fellow employees, the group said they would be walking out on May 31, one week after the company’s annual shareholder meeting.

Two groups of Seattle Amazon employees have stated they will walk out during the lunch hour on May 31, if they can get 1,000 people to commit.

The groups, Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, and Amazon Remote Advocacy, cite concerns including frustration over the company's return to work policy, thousands of recent layoffs, and concerns that Amazon isn't meeting its climate goals.

KUOW's Monica Nickelsburg explains where the company stands on these issues, and other attempts at labor organizing by Amazon employees.
