Home sales still hot in Seattle
Home sales in Seattle are increasing at the second-highest rate in the country, behind only San Jose, Calif.
A new report, by real estate marketing site Zillow, found that there were over 3,300 more homes on the market in Seattle last month than there were at the same time the previous year, an increase of 36.9 percent.
WWII shipwreck discovered
A research vessel funded by late Seattle billionaire Paul Allen discovered a wreck from World War II.
Vulcan Inc. announced this week that a crew operating an autonomous submarine discovered the USS Hornet, an American aircraft carrier, near the Solomon Islands at nearly 17,500 feet deep.
The ship was best known for its part in the Doolittle Raid in April 1942, the first air attack on Japan.
Tacoma residents might soon be charged for recycling services.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that city officials are considering four proposals.
They include limited recycling and maintaining full curbside recycling. All suggestions would include a rate increase.
According to a news release, the surcharges are intended to be temporary and will be re-examined as the recycling market stabilizes.
With a disruption in international markets, the city of Tacoma says it's becoming more expensive to process recycling.
