Want to dive deep into Seattle City Council campaign finances?
Records of campaign donations and expenditures are always available online through the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission.
But under city law, campaigns also have to hold sort of a public open house for two hours a day in the week before each election, where anyone can come look at the supporting documentation behind those contributions.
On Monday those open houses are taking place for every City Council campaign, including outside groups like the political arm of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
The locations include campaign offices, community centers — even a pizza restaurant on Capitol Hill. The records may be on paper, in big binders, or they can be available on a computer or thumb drive.
You can also inspect those records all this week by appointment. Contact the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission for today’s times and locations -- or read below.
