U.S. Open: Big favorites head home with American hopes still alive
Both reigning U.S. Open singles champions are headed home after a weekend of upsets.
American hope Coco Gauff was beaten by compatriot Emma Navarro, while in the men’s draw Novak Djokovic, and 2022 champion, Carlos Alcaraz both lost to much lower seeds in surprise fashion. In both draws there is still heavy American interest.
