'The Road to Wisdom' charts COVID skepticism, distrust and misinformation
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed that we are a deeply divided society. Cynicism and distrust of science, health professionals, and institutions have taken hold and remain, even after the emergency of the pandemic has faded.
Francis Collins charts a path through this, to a better place, in his new book “The Road to Wisdom: On Truth, Science, Faith, and Trust.” Collins was the director of the National Institutes for Health from 2009 to 2021. Prior to that, he led the International Human Genome Project.
Here & Now‘s Scott Tong speaks with Collins about how to navigate distrust and misinformation, how to listen to people to understand their skepticism, and what he thinks will help the country through this murky time.
