Seattle police arrested a Port of Seattle Commissioner this week after a report of domestic violence.

Ryan Calkins was arrested on Thursday before dawn, and was released Friday morning with no charges against him.

The news was first reported on Crosscut, through city reporter David Kroman.

Kroman: "So far no charges have been filed, the city attorney's office told me that they haven't field charges because they haven't been able to get in touch with the alleged victim in this case."

It's unclear who the alleged victim is. The attorney's office has discretion over whether to file charges against him.

But, it comes a week after Calkins' wife was also arrested over suspicion of domestic violence and resisting arrest. The person who accused her has decided not to file charges, according to the city attorney's office.

Crosscut received a statement from Calkins saying it's a complicated time in his family's life.

A Port of Seattle spokesperson says they have no comment at this time. Calkins was elected in 2017 to the Port of Seattle, which oversees the SeaTac Airport and maritime ports.
