One rural community is training doulas to increase access to maternity care

Rural communities in the U.S. are losing access to maternity care, raising the risk for pregnancy complications and maternal mortality. In Georgia, the Morehouse School of Medicine is focusing on this problem in the southwest corner of Georgia, by training a group of rural community doulas, or practitioners who offer patients extra support before, during, and after childbirth.
