June is here, complete with warmer temperatures and what seems like endless daylight. The first week of this month is also for big cultural happenings; KUOW’s Arts and Culture reporter Marcie Sillman has some tips for making the most of our weekend.

RIDAY, June 7 Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre opens a new production of the classic musical “West Side Story,” featuring Spectrum Dance Theatre recreating some of the original choreography.

ATURDAY, June 8 Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle presents Living Northwest Conservation Day, 9:30-3:00.

ATURDAY, June 8 Indigenous People Festival at Seattle Center, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., part of the ongoing Festál celebration program.

ATURDAY, June 8 City of Bellevue’s “Lake to Lake Bike Ride,” starting from Robinswood Community Park. This is a non-competitive family-friendly ride featuring long and short courses, as well as a special 8-under ride.

ATURDAY June 8 Seattle's Museum of History and Industry and the Seattle Fire Department commemorate the 130th anniversary of the Great Seattle Fire. Free, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

UNDAY, June 9 Seattle International Film Festival closing night film “The Farewell,” directed by Lulu Wang and starring Awkwafina as the daughter of Chinese immigrants who return home when they find out their mother is dying. 8 p.m. Museum of Hist History and Industry.

UNDAY, June 9 Everett Sunday Farmer’s Market, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Boxcar Park at the Port of Everett.
