Every Friday on KUOW, host Bill Radke and a panel of guests dig into the week’s top stories. This summer, we’re taking the show on the road – bringing Week in Review to communities throughout the Puget Sound region.

When planning the tour, KUOW’s Community Engagement team focused on reaching listeners outside of the Seattle city limits. The first show was last night at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. The next stops are Bellevue Arts Museum on June 21, McMenamins Anderson School in Bothell on July 12 and the Carco Theater in Renton on August 16. All shows are free to the community, though RSVPs are required.

“This tour is about taking one of our most popular programs to four corners of the Puget Sound region to meet these communities where they are,” said Zaki Hamid, KUOW’s Director of Community Engagement. “It’s not just about doing the show in front of a live audience – it’s also about us listening to our community. They tune in each week, and this is our chance to hear their voices and bring them in to participate.” Tickets for the tour’s first stop on Bainbridge Island sold out within a day. In a full house last night, listeners got to experience the creation of the show (which aired at its regular time on Friday at noon). One audience member remarked that she loved, “seeing the action, the panelists, the equipment, the behind-the-scenes process.” After the panel discussion, the audience stayed to ask host Bill Radke their questions about how the show gets made each week, why we’re going on tour and his experience hosting The Record and Week in Review.

“We came to Bainbridge to leave our studio home. But as soon as the audience greeted us, I felt at home again. I’m looking forward to more live shows around our Sound home this summer,” said Radke.

You can listen to last night’s live show right now at KUOW.org or by subscribing to the Week in Review podcast. You can also subscribe to KUOW's The Record podcast to catch Bill Radke's weekday conversations about ideas that matter to the Puget Sound region.
