Is there a path forward on ceasefire and Israeli hostages following Hamas leader's death?
Tensions in the Middle East escalated this weekend to Israel’s north, where strikes in Lebanon targeted Hezbollah-linked financial institutions in Beirut. In Gaza, an Israeli strike killed an estimated 87 Palestinians. The United Nations is calling it a dire humanitarian crisis in the region.
All this is playing out in the days since the Israeli killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, which many believed was among the preconditions for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume negotiations toward a ceasefire and release of the remaining Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas.
