How 14 Pounds Of Salsa And 7.5 Pounds Of Chips Got Us Through The Summer

Hear ye, hear ye! 'Tis the last RadioActive podcast of Summer 2013! Hosts Rachel Lam and Amina Ibrahim take a little trip down memory lane. It's a journey to where unruly foliage and lost birds litter the view, to those moments when things felt beyond our control.

We’ll hear from two girls about their fights with fate:

  • There are around 12 million immigrants living in the United States. Nearly 3 million are under the age of 24. We zoom in on one of those young people and her attempts to give back to the undocumented community while pursuing her own dreams.
  • Hannah Billen is an adventurous 15-year-old. She loves camping, rock climbing and shopping. But a serious illness, ulcerative colitis, makes living her life harder than it is for the average teen. She can't even eat s'mores.

Rachel and Amina’s ask their fellow RadioActivians to share moments when they too were at a loss. And finally, they visit a more beloved path: the favorite memories of RadioActive Summer 2013: a sarcastic falafel man, a too-good-to-be-true Batman voice, and lots more.
