Help! My coworkers don't take me seriously

We've covered a lot of ground so far on Battle Tactics For Your Sexist Workplace, from impostor syndrome to what men can do to change the game. We’ve also heard a lot of stories and questions from listeners about stuff they’re facing at work.

With the help of PR pro Kieta Williams, we responded to some of those listeners. For starters, here's a question from Joanne:

I am naturally an upbeat, outgoing and bubbly person. People always assume that because I am so upbeat and bubbly, I must be an idiot. For the record, I have a bachelors degree, masters degree, and graduate professional certificate, and I'm only 29. However, because I am upbeat, people talk down to me and ask my less qualified (often male) coworkers for help. They don’t take my ideas seriously, and they degrade my qualifications.

Is there anyway that you could provide some tactics to overcome this problem in my life?

Listen to our response to that question and others via the audio link above.

This episode of Battle Tactics For Your Sexist Workplace was hosted by Eula Scott Bynoe and Jeannie Yandel. It was produced by Mayowa Aina and edited by Caroline Chamberlain Gomez.
