A Los Angeles chef never thought he would be honored for making dishes he grew up with in the Philippines, like chami. But now, Lord Maynard Llera of the restaurant Kuya Lord is enjoying the spotlight after being crowned this year’s James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: California. He joins Here & Now’s Deepa Fernandes.
