Council Candidates At-Large: ‘Seattle Will Become A Playground For The Rich'
For the first time in a century, Seattle voters will choose their City Council members by district.
There are seven districts and two at-large positions – those council members will be elected by every voting Seattle resident.
Four candidates are vying for Position 8; six for Position 9. We asked them to meet us somewhere in the city that helps to explain why they’re running.
We zipped around the city, meeting current Councilmember Tim Burgess at Bailey Gatzert Elementary School and candidate Jonathan A. Grant at the old Ballard Lockhaven apartments.
We ventured out to West Seattle’s Belvedere Park viewpoint, then back to the Central Area.
Primary ballots drop on Friday, July 10, and are due by Tuesday, Aug. 4. Two candidates from each position will go on to the general election in November.
