Bird flu sickens more humans, troubling scientists
The spread of bird flu continues to trouble scientists. Just this weekend, the CDC confirmed a mild case in a child who had no known exposure to an infected animal. There have been several cases like this one over the past few months. At this point, scientists say there is no indication that the U.S. has the outbreak under control.
And more recently a slightly different, more troubling version of the virus has cropped up in the Pacific Northwest, leading to a severe illness in a Canadian teenager. As we enter flu season, scientists warn there are increased dangers of a new strain emerging that could more easily infect humans.
