Impeach: House Democrats from Washington state are unanimous

As Congress continues its summer break, every Democrat in Washington state’s U.S. House delegation has come out to support an impeachment inquiry.

Until Sunday, just three supported the idea: Pramila Jayapal, Adam Smith and Rick Larsen.

And then on Saturday, President Donald Trump lashed out at Maryland Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings as a “bully” who represented a district that was a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess."

Many said that was yet another racist attack by the president.

By Sunday, all of Washington state’s Democratic members of Congress said they supported launching an impeachment proceeding, although none mentioned the latest Trump controversy with Cummings.

Representatives Suzan DelBene, Derek Kilmer, Denny Heck and Kim Schrier put out statements Sunday, saying they supported the start of an impeachment inquiry and cited the testimony of former special counsel Robert Mueller.

That brings the current tally of House members to support an impeachment hearing to more than 100, according to an ongoing New York Times count.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has seemed lukewarm to the idea. On Friday she said everyone has the liberty to espouse their own opinion.
