An attempt to slow down Aurora Avenue's sex trade

Seattle does not have a law against “prostitution loitering”. The city used to ban it, but that was repealed in 2020.

And that means buying or selling sex is illegal, but publicly attempting to do so, aka loitering, is not.

Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore wants to change that, with a proposal she’s presenting to a council committee tomorrow.

Seattle Times Reporter Sara Jean Green is here to break down Moore’s proposal, and how it would influence the sex trade on Aurora Avenue.
