ONE DAY TO RAISE $1 MILLION
A Message from our President and General Manager:
First and foremost, I hope you and your family are healthy and safe.
Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, KUOW has been 100% focused on serving our community with the fact-based news and information necessary to safeguard your health, safety, and wellbeing.
Our valiant journalists have been working 24/7, putting themselves at the forefront of the COVID-19 outbreak to get at the truth and deepen our understanding. We’ve nearly doubled our reporting including interviews, call-in programs, coverage of marginalized and vulnerable communities, bi-lingual online information, and more.
I’m proud of how KUOW has served you and yet, every day brings forth more to do because there’s always more that you need to know.
We postponed our planned March on-air fund drive, but our unwavering commitment to prioritizing your right to know did not come without consequences. We now face an economic uncertainty that unfortunately many others face.
We’ve decided to try something we’ve never done before. Instead of a traditional week-long on-air pledge drive, we aim to raise one million dollars in a single day—Thursday, April 23.
It’s an audacious goal and we need your help. Your support will help maintain the veracity and quality you’ve come to expect from KUOW and NPR.
While my mind is sometimes anxious for how this pandemic will unfold next, my heart is full of gratitude for financial supporters past and present whose generosity ensures our ability to be your trusted source for facts in a turbulent world.
If you value the service we provide and are in a position to support us at this time, we need you. I ask knowing there are so many worthy organizations and causes in dire need right now. But truth and fact-based information are also in need as we set our sights on rebuilding the community we love.
With gratitude,
Caryn Mathes
President and General Manager
