Life Income Gifts
We can help you design a plan that pays you or your loved ones income for life while also supporting KUOW. Gift options include Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Lead Trusts, or Charitable Remainder Trusts.
Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) and Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) are designed to pay income to donor(s) or other beneficiaries either for their lifetime or for a set term of years. CGAs pay a fixed amount, regardless of the economy, for one or two lifetimes. CRTs can be set up to generate income that is linked to trust investment performance and economic factors. CRTs can pay income for a set term of years, or for life. Both of these options may have substantial tax savings implications (income, capital gains, and estate taxes.)
Charitable lead trusts (CLTs) can be used to transfer assets to family members – such as to the next generation or to grandchildren – with a temporary pay-out to non-profits such as KUOW for a pre-set term of years. This delayed transfer to family reduces the gift tax liability.
We work directly with the University of Washington Gift Planning Office to manage and track all annuities and trusts. To learn more about Charitable Gift Annuities see the UW annuity calculator or download their brochure on gift annuities.
