For fans of his legal thrillers, author Scott Turow needs no introduction. When he gets up in the morning, he puts his pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us. Then he writes best-selling novels.

If you haven’t joined the fan club, know that Turow is unusual in that he became a writer, then a lawyer, then stayed with both professions.

Turow’s new novel is The Last Trial. The protagonist is Alejandro “Sandy” Stern, a frequent side character in many Turow novels. In this appearance Stern, a brilliant defense attorney on the verge of retirement, is pulled into a final case he can’t refuse.

Here, KUOW’s Ross Reynolds interviews Turow about a wide range of topics, including his new work, the varied arcs of his career, and former President Trump’s legal prospects.

The University Book Store presented this event on February 4.
