KUOW announced today that Todd Mundt has been selected as the station’s new managing producer. Mundt comes to KUOW most recently from Louisville Public Media where he has been the chief content officer at LPM’s three stations, associated websites, and mobile and social platforms. Mundt had also hosted Morning Edition on LPM’s flagship station WFPL and at Michigan Radio and other stations. At Michigan Radio, Mundt also hosted a daily interview show distributed by NPR.

Prior to that, Mundt was editorial director at NPR Digital Services in Boston for two years. Mundt recently concluded a stint as a board member of the national Public Radio Program Directors group and has also chaired the group. He also served on the podcast project working group charged with assisting NPR in its original launch of podcasts and developing a podcast platform for public radio stations and networks. Mundt began his career at WOI, the public radio station at Iowa State University.

A recently created position, KUOW’s managing producer will oversee all producers and hosts outside of the KUOW news room. KUOW’s new managing producer and the existing managing editor for news will be peers in working together along with senior KUOW programming management to take KUOW’s reporting and producing capacity to the next level of public service.

“In creating the managing producer position, KUOW has constructed a role that will be focused on full integration of all of KUOW’s content platforms,” said KUOW Program Director Jeff Hansen. “Todd has demonstrated an ability to create a more seamless connection between the content goals of the organization and daily execution. With his breadth and depth of experience in all of the key areas of this new position, Todd is the perfect fit for this job and I am thrilled to have him join our team.”

“We're all being challenged to increase our public service at a time when we have so many listening choices,” Mundt says. “KUOW is doing the right thing by focusing on the quality of every single story, whether from the station's team of excellent producers, or our national and international broadcast partners. I'm excited to help shape a compelling daily listening experience in Seattle and beyond.”

Mundt will begin his new role at KUOW on Monday, March 16.
