Tertia Optio and the CIA's history of targeted killing
Since World War II, American presidents have used lawful measures to assassinate perceived enemies overseas. They employ Central Intelligence Agency personnel to conduct these operations.
The stuff of spy thrillers is not all fiction. Who are these people? Author Annie Jacobsen explores that question in her new book, “Surprise, Kill, Vanish: The Secret History of CIA Paramilitary Armies, Operators, and Assassins.”
Jacobsen is an investigative reporter and also writes and produces Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan TV series.
