Off the Charts: Kamala's 'brat summer' brought in fresh donors in Washington state
Vice President Kamala Harris made waves with new Washingtonians this summer — raising close to $1 million in individual contributions on her first day as the presumptive Democratic candidate. Nearly half of that cash came from Washingtonians who hadn't contributed to the Democratic ticket all year, according to newly released data from the Federal Election Commission.
As Harris prepares to take the stage against Donald Trump in Tuesday night's presidential debate, KUOW reflected on the debate that started it all — between Trump and President Joe Biden — to see how Washington state donors reacted to the end of the Biden campaign and the start of Kamala's "brat summer."
Where did these numbers come from?
The numbers above were sourced from the Federal Election Commission's (FEC) July and August campaign finance reports and only include individual campaign contributions to the campaigns of Biden/Harris and now Harris/Waltz. New donors were calculated from "year-to-date" data available for 2023-2024. The data utilized only includes processed data that has been categorized and coded by the FEC.
