More snow this morning! And more snow coming!

What round of snow are we on? Third? We’ve lost track.

A few more inches of snow fell on the Seattle area overnight, Sunday into Monday. A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with one to three more inches of snow forecast.

But the party could come to an end this afternoon, if some warm air comes up from the south. That would turn the snow into regular old rain.

Seattle Public Schools are closed on Monday, and Metro said buses would run on snow routes. The weather service said travel could be very difficult, or even impossible.

Meanwhile, the Northwest’s snow has garnered some national attention. The Northwest was mentioned in the national snowstorm roundup on weather.gov: “A series of winter storms impacting the Western U.S. will continue to bring rounds of widespread snowfall to much of the Pacific Northwest…”

The weather service noted that while the lowlands – i.e. Seattle area – will get a few inches, the real bucks will drop “across the higher terrain of the Washington and Oregon Cascades, where one to three feet of snow is likely.”
