'It's just like a sci-fi film.' Photos of a quiet Seattle
“It’s just like a sci-fi film,” said PJ Wilcynski, from 10-feet away on an empty Westlake Station platform. “You can walk across the streets mid-block any which way you go. Nobody’s there.”
Life as we know it has changed in Seattle. As many adhere to Governor Jay Inslee’s stay-at-home order, a quietness has fallen over the city.
Along First Avenue, Shavonne Maes paints a mural on the boarded up façade of Some Random Bar, (yes, that’s really what it’s called).
She was laid off from her job at Heartwood Provisions roughly 15 days ago.
She paints bright red flowers on building. “Everything’s boarded up; like it’s all closed,” Maes said. “Everything’s gone.”
“I don’t think any of us ever imagined that this would happen in our lifetime, let alone in our parent's, our grandparent’s lifetimes," Shavonne Maes said.
“This is really wild.”
Below are some of the quiet scenes from around Seattle this week.
