Washingtonians have a complicated relationship with the EV carmaker Tesla. In 2013, we bought more than any other state — and today, Teslas are more overrepresented on Seattle's streets than even Subarus.

But Washingtonians have also remained deeply skeptical of President Donald Trump. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, also at the helm of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, has wasted no time reimagining the federal government since Trump took office last month.

From accessing a sensitive government payment system in the Treasury Department to purging scores of federal employees deemed "not fit," Musk has demonstrated an unprecedented level of power within the president's administration.

Meanwhile, protests, boycotts, and vandalism have hit Musk's car company worldwide — and lawmakers in Washington state are considering removing the company's direct-to-consumer monopoly.

KUOW wants to know what it's been like to drive a Tesla around the Seattle area during this time of sweeping and contentious political change. Get in touch with KUOW politics reporter Scott Greenstone via email at sgreenstone@kuow.org to share your experience.
