KUOW launches new politics programming, partners with A Braver Way podcast

July 26, 2024

Seattle, WA — KUOW is proud to announce a suite of programming highlighting local and national politics reporting from the station’s award-winning newsroom and an exciting distribution partnership with A Braver Way podcast. Launching today, KUOW’s politics slate will cover the 2024 election season and beyond. “Navigating the current news cycle and separating fact from spin requires exceptional, rigorous reporting. KUOW and NPR will continue to meet this pivotal political moment by delivering news and programs that clarify and foster understanding,” says KUOW interim news director Jason Pagano.

KUOW’s politics slate includes a new weekly podcast, Sound Politics, featuring KUOW host Libby Denkmann and politics reporter Scott Greenstone; the return of KUOW’s politics email newsletter; and a partnership with Braver Angels’ podcast A Braver Way hosted by local author and bridgebuilder, Mónica Guzmán.

A Braver Way seeks to equip listeners with tools to bridge political divides in their everyday lives. Each week, Mónica Guzmán is joined by guests from across the political spectrum to unearth insights and messy real-life stories that help break down barriers and make room for progress. “We’re doing something different from your average political podcast. In these intensely polarized times, and as we navigate one of the most contentious election cycles yet, we are showing people that there is a path forward,” says Guzmán.

Brendan Sweeney, KUOW’s director of new content and innovation says, "Our partnership with A Braver Way meets a critical need for our audience. We know KUOW listeners turn to us as a trusted source for reasoned, in-depth local perspectives on national news. Mónica and her team go one step further to bring humanity and curiosity back into political discourse. Programs like these are vital to our mission to create and serve a more informed public, one that feels empowered to participate and better our region and our democracy.”
