KUOW Donor Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to KUOW. Here is an overview of what information we collect, how we collect it, and how we may use it. The information you provide when you donate to KUOW, which is then stored in our donor management system, may include:

  • First and Last Name (yours, and those in your household)
  • Mailing Address
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • KUOW content preferences (such as types of coverage, events, etc.)
  • Event registration information
  • Volunteer history

How KUOW will use this information:

KUOW will not sell, share, or trade our donor’s names or personal information with any other entity. We will also not send any mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.

Your visits to KUOW.org and/or streaming sessions are tracked anonymously and will not be linked to your donor record, unless you are signed into your KUOW account. KUOW may use your contact information to send you requests to donate, general updates about station events or programs, or account-related inquiries such as updating contact information. KUOW may share your information with NPR and the University of Washington if you are part of our philanthropy portfolio, or if you have explicitly requested that we share your information. However, NPR and the University of Washington do not have access to KUOW’s donor database.

When you provide us payment information in order to process a donation or buy a ticket to an event, this information is encrypted. Your payment method is tokenized and used by Authorize.net, PayPal, Amazon, Facebook, and EventBrite only to fulfill your donation or ticket purchase. We do not store your payment information.

You can request a copy of your donor record at any time, but must provide at least three pieces of verifiable information that matches your account (e.g. email address, date of last gift, phone number, etc.) Please send your request in writing via email or physical mail:

Should KUOW be legally obligated to share sensitive information, we will comply to the extent that the law requires.

You can create an online account with KUOW at any time, which allows you to update your contact information. In order to do so, please click the "Sign In/Sign Up" button at the top of the page next to the "Donate" button. In order to delete your account, please email us at optout@kuow.org.
