About
Irwin Goverman is a retired Partner from Deloitte Consulting’s Life Sciences Practice, serving global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology clients for 34 years. He also led Deloitte’s CIO Services practice for Life Sciences, addressing technology and business process strategies and implementation. Prior to focusing on life sciences, he worked with major health organizations, and he spent four years as Vice President of Information Systems and CIO for Group Health Cooperative (now Kaiser Permanente). He retired from Deloitte in June 2016.
His not-for-profit experience includes Board involvement with the Seattle Children’s Museum (past chair), Center for Healthcare Quality (past chair), Woodland Park Zoo (Board Secretary, Governance, Finance, Technology and Animal Care committees; co-led recent strategic planning effort), and Seattle Children’s (Health Information Technology Committee). He was also Board chair for the Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR).
Irwin has a BA in Computer Science from Brandeis University and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from UCLA. He and his wife, Joan, have lived on Mercer Island since 1992 and she is currently Professor and Chair of the Immunology Department at University of Washington.
