Rep. Mike Hope For Background Checks
Despite recent disagreements over gun control proposals in the state legislature, a few Democrats and Republicans are coming together to support one bill that would require background checks for all firearms transactions in Washington.
A couple weeks ago, the NRA publicly denounced the bill, calling it “a huge burden for law-abiding citizens.” House Bill 1588 will have its preliminary hearing at 8 a.m. tomorrow and members of the state Senate are pushing for a similar background-check bill (SB 5711) that also has support from both parties.
Ross Reynolds talks with Republican state Representative Mike Hope of Washington's 44th Legislative District about why he supports this bill.
