Remembering poet Lucia Perillo: 'A sharp observer of the natural world'

Dec 7, 2016

Bill Radke talks with former Washington state poet laureate Elizabeth about the life and work of writer Lucia Perillo, who died October 16 at her home in Olympia at the age of 58.

The MacArthur Genius Award recipient was the author of seven poetry collections, including the Pulitzer finalist “Inseminating the Elephant,” a collection of essays titled “I’ve Heard the Vultures Singing: Field Notes on Poetry, Illness, and Nature," and a collection of short stories.

Perillo's final collection, “Time Will Clean the Carcass Bones: Selected and New Poems,” was published by Copper Canyon Press earlier this year.

A celebration of Perillo’s life will be held Sunday, December 11.
