How white people prevent racial justice, and what they can do about it

Nov 4, 2016

You may have heard the term “white fragility.” Dr. Robin DiAngelo coined the expression to describe the defensive positions white people often take when confronted with the facts of racism.

This talk details the realities of our racist society today and points towards possible remedies.

DiAngelo researches Whiteness studies and critical discourse analysis, and she lectures at the University of Washington. Her new book is “What Does it Mean to be White? Developing White Racial Literacy.”

She spoke at UW’s Kane Hall on October 26, as part of the UW Graduate School Public Lecture Series “Privilege and Politics.”
