About Sage Van Wing:
Sage grew up in California, Maine and London. She studied anthropology at Stanford University and photography at the Brooks Institute. After a brief residency in New York City, an aborted attempt to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (she only made it half way), and a serious burn injury, Sage finally settled down in the small town of Point Reyes, California. There, Sage worked as a waitress, a bookseller, a grass–fed beef rancher, a carpenter, a graphic designer, and a local foods advocate (she founded the group Locavores). It was in Point Reyes, working at the local community radio station (KWMR), that Sage found the only career she has ever loved. After hosting an on–air book club and working to start the local news show, she decided to branch out to public radio. She worked for a while for KQED before following her partner up to Seattle. She's been employed full time at KUOW since August 2007 and worked on "The Conversation," before moving over to "Weekday."
