That brings the number of cases of severe lung disease in the state to five. Public Health Seattle and King County says the latest case occurred in mid-September.

A woman in her 30’s was admitted to a hospital with shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. She has since been released and is recovering. The woman reported that she was vaping THC and nicotine. Both products were purchased legally according to a statement.

The second new case is in Mason County. Officials report the patient is currently receiving care and is stable.

The investigation for a common cause is ongoing. In the meantime Public health officials are warning that E-cigarettes and vaping are not safe and that anyone who’s experiencing symptoms of lung illness should see a healthcare professional.
