Fire crews battled a massive blaze in Seattle's Beacon Hill that spread across multiple buildings early Thursday morning.

The Seattle Fire Department reports that the fire started in a building under construction in the 1000 block of Sturgus Avenue South. The flames spread to at least four nearby buildings, and it was upgraded to a 3-alarm fire as crews attempted to keep it under control with fire hoses.

By 7:30 a.m., the fire department reported that the fire had been knocked down, but crews were staying at the scene to ensure it stays out. Investigators are starting their work to determine the cause of the fire.

The incident prompted crews to close two lanes of eastbound I-90 near Rainier Avenue South. Neighbors were advised to close their windows to keep out the smoke permeating the area. There were no reported injuries.
