Clallam County Dips Into Reserves For Death Penalty Case

Clallam County has spent nearly a million dollars this year for the retrial of former death row inmate Darold Stenson in the most expensive trial in the county’s history.

As a result, county commissioners released on Monday nearly half a million dollars in emergency reserve funding for the Superior Court to pay for it.

3 Wash. Soldiers Jailed Following Stabbing Death

Three Washington-based soldiers are in jail after the stabbing death of a fellow soldier over the weekend. The arrests came after the person who allegedly wielded the knife sought medical treatment for a cut to his hand.

Police say the murder happened off base following an exchange of words between two groups of Joint Base Lewis-McChord servicemen. A roadside confrontation seemed to end peacefully once everyone realized they were fellow soldiers.

Sedro-Woolley Couple Convicted For Abuse, Death Of Adopted Teen

A jury in Skagit County has found the parents of an adopted teenager guilty for her death. In May 2011, Hana Williams died of hypothermia and malnutrition in the family’s backyard in Sedro-Woolley. The girl was adopted from Ethiopia and believed to be 13 at the time of her death.
